Huxley is seeking a Backend Engineer to join a product-focused team building a modern planning platform. The team is creating a user-friendly, production-ready planning entry point while developing the integrations and services that power the wider ecosystem.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend services using Node.js and/or Java.
• Develop and manage RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Build integrations between multiple systems and tools.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and ensure solutions align with the broader platform vision.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Work closely with product, business and UX teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Support the development of reusable business rules, algorithms and planning logic.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, UX specialists, business stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver solutions that meet real user needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend services using Node.js and/or Java.
• Develop and manage RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Build integrations between multiple systems and tools.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and ensure solutions align with the broader platform vision.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Work closely with product, business and UX teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience as a Backend Engineer with Node.js and/or Java.
• Solid experience designing, consuming and producing REST APIs and OpenAPI services.
• DevOps expertise, including CI/CD implementation and management.
• Experience with AI-assisted, spec-driven software development.
• Strong understanding of system integrations and data flows.
• Experience building production-ready solutions within existing architectures.
• Familiarity with reusable business rule engines and algorithm-driven applications.
• Experience collaborating with product, business and UX stakeholders.
• Team-player mentality with excellent communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI integrations and MCP-type solutions.
• Full-stack development experience.
• Experience with 3D rendering services.
• Experience with Three.js, React Three Fiber, Autodesk APS or similar technologies.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms and dynamic page rendering.
• Experience with event-driven architectures.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tooling.
• Background in retail planning, commercial planning or enterprise planning environments.
