Job summary

emagine is seeking a hands-on Backend Engineer to join its Digital Enterprise team in Stockholm. You will build reliable backend services, design APIs and orchestrate integrations for HR and Finance processes, while staying involved in implementation, testing and deployment.

You will collaborate with HR/Finance stakeholders, challenge requirements and help shape pragmatic solutions. The role emphasizes practical engineering, coaching juniors and creating reusable patterns, with hands-on delivery

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience building backend systems in Java, Kotlin or a similar language.
• Meaningful experience with APIs, services, integrations and production software.
• Good understanding of microservices, messaging and event-driven architecture.
• Strong system-design ability grounded in hands-on delivery.
• Familiarity with testing, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure and DevOps.
• Comfortable working directly with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and operating backend services
• Building small, loosely coupled microservices and well-defined APIs
• Designing synchronous, messaging-based and event-driven integrations
• Reasoning about service boundaries, dependencies, failure handling and complexity
• Contributing to testing, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices
• Working with developers and business stakeholders throughout delivery
• Facilitating planning, refinement, review and improvement conversations
