Job summary

A forward-thinking financial technology company in Stockholm is seeking an AI Engineering Intern to join their team. This role requires a strong academic background in AI/ML, along with hands-on project experience. The intern will work on designing and implementing LLM-powered workflows for finance tasks while collaborating with experienced engineers. Qualifications

• Great academic track record as a student at KTH, UU, LTH (or similar) in computer science or applied physics.
• Solid understanding of AI/ML demonstrated through courses, research, or significant projects.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, ML frameworks, and context engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python (Go experience a plus).
• Analytical mindset with ability to evaluate and improve AI system performance.

You want to learn from experienced engineers, contribute to a cutting-edge product, and make an impact on thousands of small businesses & accountants.

The opportunity

Mimo was founded in early 2023 to help small businesses save time and money on payments and financing. In 2024, we launched our end-to-end payments platform that automates payments and financing tasks, saving companies hours every week and reducing unnecessary fees.

We are now building on this momentum by hiring interns to join our AI engineering team. This is not a “learn AI from scratch” role — you will be expected to contribute meaningfully from day one, applying your existing knowledge of machine learning and LLMs to real-world systems, saving thousands of hours on finance tasks such as reconciliation, financial variance analysis and more.

The role

As an AI Engineering Intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced engineers to design and build technology for automating mechanical work for finance professionals by leveraging data and latest advancements in AI technology.

You Will

• Design and implement LLM-powered workflows for anomaly detection, invoice categorisation, and other accounting tasks.
• Contribute to benchmark/eval suites for developing and improving AI agents.
• Implement structured data pipelines to optimise feedback loops and LLM usage.
• Continuously research, evaluate, and integrate the most effective AI/ML solutions for our use cases.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver user-friendly AI-powered features.
• Contribute across the stack when needed (Go, Python, Typescript, Postgres, GCP).

What we are looking for

• Great academic track record as a student at KTH, UU, LTH (or similar) in computer science, applied physics or similar
• Solid understanding of AI/ML demonstrated through coursework, research, or significant projects.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), and concepts like vector stores, RAG, or context engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python (Go experience a plus).
• Analytical mindset with ability to evaluate and improve AI system performance.
• Excited to take ownership and contribute in a fast-paced startup environment.

Bonus points if you have

• Experience working with financial or accounting data.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestrators (e.g., Temporal).
• Open-source contributions, strong side projects, or research work in AI/ML.
