Job summary

Job description
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assesses requisition for the appropriateness of the procedure.
  • Appropriate patient identification: Asks patient to state name and verify name with file record.
  • Make sure all needed consents and questionnaires are signed and appropriately stored.
  • Explains procedures, assists, and transfers patient to table, positions patient’s body for accurate images and assists patient at end of procedure.
  • Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific studies, adjusts equipment and parameters and arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient.
  • For x-ray producing studies, adjust lead shields to protect unaffected parts of the patient’s body.
  • Observes patient and equipment during procedures and reports unusual occurrences and records patient’s condition.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents necessary for radiologic examinations during a CT scan or MRI as requested or ordered. Assesses and observes patient for adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Monitoring patients for signs of distress, adverse reactions, or medical emergencies during imaging procedures, and provide appropriate care and support as needed.
  • Transports patients within department, to and from waiting area as required.
  • Troubleshoots and reports equipment problems to supervisor/Radiologist.
  • Cleans and disinfects patient rooms.
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Assignment to different modality room is dependent on “qualifications, years of experience, credentials, competency, training, gender-related, business need”.
  • Performing other professional duties as assigned.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information to the attending Radiologist.
  • Provide oversight of the system management for the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Document areas of risks with his seniors or head of department.
