Job summary

Egis is seeking a senior commercial manager to lead the commercial and contractual administration of construction works. You will oversee payments, variations, claims, and time extensions, ensuring contractual compliance and robust risk mitigation for the client.

You will review contracts and documentation, prepare dashboards and reports, and coordinate with project teams and client representatives to protect financial interests. MRICS certification is an additional advantage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, commercial management, or related field.
  • Extensive commercial experience in construction, infrastructure, or landscape contracting.
  • Strong knowledge of contract types (FIDIC or similar) and cost control principles.
  • Proven experience handling claims, variations, procurement, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in commercial software/tools including ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial and contractual administration for construction works on behalf of the supervision consultant.
  • Oversee contractor’s commercial performance including payments, variations, claims, extensions of time.
  • Review valuations and payment applications, verifying measured works and documentation.
  • Assess variations, claims, change orders, and extension of time with client in mind.
  • Monitor commercial risks, costs, and potential claims; advise on mitigation strategies.
  • Review contracts, BOQs, specs, drawings, schedules for proper administration.
  • Prepare reports, forecasts, and dashboards for Project Director and client team.
  • Coordinate with Project Director, PMs, QS, planning, disciplines, and client reps on commercial matters.
  • Manage contractual correspondence and notices with contractor.
  • Monitor contractor compliance and escalate significant risks or non-compliances.
  • Support dispute resolution and commercial negotiations for client interests.
  • Lead commercial closeout activities including final accounts and documentation.

Job Description


  • Lead the commercial and contractual administration of the construction works on behalf of the supervision consultant, ensuring compliance with the contract and client requirements.

  • Oversee the contractor’s commercial performance, including payment applications, variations, claims, extensions of time, and other contractual submissions.

  • Review contractor valuations and payment applications, verifying measured works, progress, supporting documentation, and contractual compliance.

  • Assess variations, claims, change orders, and extension of time requests, providing clear recommendations to the client and supporting negotiations and resolution.

  • Monitor commercial risks, cost impacts, and potential claims, proactively advising the client on mitigation and contractual strategy.

  • Review contract documents, BOQs, specifications, drawings, schedules, and other commercial documentation to ensure proper contract administration.

  • Prepare commercial reports, forecasts, dashboards, and recommendations for the Project Director and client team, providing clear visibility of the contractor’s financial and contractual position.

  • Coordinate with the Project Director, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Planning, technical disciplines, and client representatives on commercial matters.

  • Manage contractual correspondence, notices, instructions, and other formal communications with the contractor.

  • Monitor the contractor’s compliance with commercial and contractual obligations, escalating significant risks or non‑compliances to the client.

  • Support the resolution of disputes and commercial negotiations, protecting the client’s contractual and financial interests.

  • Lead commercial closeout activities, including final account assessment, reconciliation, outstanding claims and variations, and contractual documentation.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Commercial Management, or related field.

  • Extensive commercial experience in construction, infrastructure, or landscape contracting.

  • Strong knowledge of contract types (FIDIC or similar), cost control principles, and commercial risk management.

  • Proven experience handling claims, variations, procurement, and financial reporting.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in commercial software/tools (e.g., ERP systems, cost control software).

  • Professional certifications (MRICS, RICS) are an added advantage.
