KING FAISAL SPECIALIST HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE (KFSHRC) in Riyadh seeks a physician for the Stroke Section. The role involves delivering clinical care under the Consultant, supervising interns and residents, and ensuring adherence to hospital bylaws and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a medical school in good standing and completion of postgraduate specialty training.
  • Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification or equivalent.
  • Adequate training experience in the relevant specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical care under the direction of the Consultant and supervises interns and residents.
  • Ensures compliance with medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations and hospital policies.
  • Cares for a diverse patient population and participates in ward rounds and clinics.

Education

Medical degree in good standing
Postgraduate specialty training in neurology or related field
Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification or equivalent

Job description

Summary

Provides medical care in the field of specialty and supervises interns and residents, as requested by the Consultant and in accordance with current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the Hospital’s policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Applies medical techniques and principles under the direction of Consultant and deals with a diverse set of patients offering them care and encouragement.
  • Informs Consultant about any problems or discrepancies that might arise.
  • Complies strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards.
  • Provides required patient care and management in the field of speciality, in accordance with standards of medical care laid down by the Hospital, as requested by the Consultant. ? Studies and performs assessment, examination and the compilation of a case history and assists in the diagnosis and management of the patient in accordance with criteria listed in diagnostic manuals such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.
  • Registers detailed medical history, conducts a thorough physical examination and creates a plan for patient management and follows-up for discussion with the Consultant. Subsequently, records the Consultant’s orders, progress notes and other required documents for outpatients.
  • Provides on-call coverage for their specialty on a rotational basis during evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Prepares for and participates in specialist ward rounds as per policy. Documents findings in medical records.
  • Follows up on investigation results for outpatients and modifies treatment accordingly.
  • Attends specialty clinics, outpatient clinics, and shares on on call schedule as per requirements.
  • Performs any other clinical responsibilities, as assigned.
Academic Responsibilities
  • Provides orientation, bedside training and supervision of interns, residents and fellows as assigned.
  • Keeps abreast of all the latest techniques and developments, especially in area of specialization. Implements them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.
  • Participates in the educational activities and training programs of the Department.
  • Participates in national and international medical conferences

Experience Required

At least four (4) years of Training/Post-Training Experience is required.
