Software Development Engineer, DaS FinTech

Amazon Devices and Services Fintech is the global team that designs and builds the financial planning and analysis tools for a wide variety of Amazon’s new and established organisations. From Kindle to Ring and even new and exciting companies like Kuiper (our new interstellar satellite play) this team enjoys a wide variety of complex and interesting problem spaces. They are almost like FinTech consultants embedded in Amazon.

The ideal engineer for this space will be highly quantitative, have great judgment and passion to design and build a great customer experience, be inventive, and have a strong track record of delivery. You also have a pragmatic approach and iterative approach to building software: you have an ability to simplify and get things done with a demonstrated track record of building and delivering software and working effectively with external and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture of large initiatives in scaling, security and availability.
• Design, develop and support a world-class search and analytics platform serving individuals and businesses of all sizes.
• Produce bullet‑proof code that is robust, efficient and maintainable; primary languages are Java and Python.
• Continually challenge what exists and explore what should be changed to best meet evolving business and market needs.
• Possess expert knowledge in large scale distributed system design and engineering best practices.
• Participate in setting a vision and objectives for Search Services in alignment with business and market needs.
• Drive and work on algorithm and architecture design, execute and deliver results.
• Invent the future of search, instead of just being a bystander.
• Join a great group of motivated, top‑notch people and work with them to solve interesting and useful problems in a fun, collaborative environment.
• Lead team(s) of highly performing individuals in the design of flexible and scalable solutions, and day‑to‑day operations.

• Identify bottlenecks in existing code/design and devise solutions to address them.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• 3+ years of Video Games Industry experience (supporting title development, release, or live ops).
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
