Job summary

VAST Data in Saudi Arabia seeks a Network Engineer for AI infrastructure, focusing on RDMA, storage, and high-performance networking. You will design reference architectures, validate switch configurations, and shape how customers deploy AI storage and networking at scale.

The role requires hands-on lab work, lab automation, and collaboration with NVIDIA, Arista, Cisco, Juniper, and other vendors to ensure interoperability and performance at line rate across GPU fabrics and lossless Ethernet.

Qualifications

• Strong data center networking fundamentals at CCNP level or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Solid command of BGP and L3 routing: eBGP/iBGP, ECMP, route policy, multipath, BGP-based fabrics.
• Hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting both L2 and L3 data center networks.
• Real troubleshooting ability across layers - routing, ARP/ND, MTU, congestion, packet loss, latency.
• Working knowledge of Linux networking: interfaces, VLANs, routing tables, namespaces, MTU.
• Comfort with tcpdump, Wireshark, iperf, and the standard diagnostic toolkit.
• The instinct to build a lab and reproduce a problem rather than theorize about it.
• Clear technical writing - your designs and findings are only useful if others can follow them.

Responsibilities

• Design the Architecture: Define reference network architectures for L2/L3 fabrics, BGP/VXLAN designs, RoCEv2 and QoS.
• Own the Lab: Build and run validation environments for switch qualification, interoperability testing, performance characterization, and reproduction of customer issues.
• Qualify the Ecosystem: Evaluate new switches, network OS, and NICs from major vendors; collaborate with vendor engineering teams to certify compatibility.
• Solve What Nobody Else Can: Troubleshoot complex issues across GPUs, fabric, and storage, addressing congestion, latency, and MTU.
• Turn Findings into Product: Document best practices and automation, providing input to R&D on platform improvements.
