The Senior Logistics Manager manages the development coordination and implementation of construction logistics plans across an assigned district portfolio geographical area or group of construction packages. The role converts the District Logistics Director s strategy into coordinated delivery plans, leads Logistics Managers and supporting resources, and manages contractor interfaces, construction access, traffic management, haul routes, temporary facilities, logistics risks and operational-readiness activities.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Management
- Manage implementation of the approved district construction logistics strategy
- Lead preparation and updates of districtzone and package-level logistics plans
- Translate strategic requirements into coordinated delivery actions and implementation programs
- Manage logistics across multiple projectscontractors or work packages and allocate activities to Logistics Managers
Access Traffic and Haul-Route Planning
- Lead detailed planning for construction accesshaul routestraffic management and staging areas
- Coordinate contractor access requirements and resolve route or schedule conflicts
- Manage temporary roadsgatesparkingholding areas and delivery-management requirements
- Ensure suitable segregation between constructionworkforceoperational and public movements
Contractor and Stakeholder Coordination
- Lead regular logistics coordination meetings with contractorsconsultants and internal stakeholders
- Review contractor logistics planstraffic-management plans and mobilisation proposals
- Coordinate interfaces with infrastructureutilitiesmobilitysecuritysafety and operational teams
- Track actions to closureresolve day-to-day issues and elevate significant risks or decisions
Implementation Risk and Assurance
- Monitor contractor compliance through inspectionsreviews and assurance activities
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions and control changes to logistics arrangements
- Maintain the district logistics risk and constraint register
- Develop mitigation and contingency plans for closuresactivationsevents and phasing changes
Operational Readiness Reporting and Team Management
- Coordinate logistics supporting commissioningasset activation and phased handover
- Develop transition plans for areas moving from construction into testing or operation
- Prepare progress reportsdashboards and executive summaries
- Manage and mentor Logistics Managerssupport resource planning and deputise for the District Logistics Director when required
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Transport Planning or a related discipline.
- Typically 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in construction logistics, infrastructure delivery or complex site operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing logistics across multiple contractors or construction packages.
- Strong experience in logistics planning, construction access, traffic management and haul-route coordination.
- Proven ability to review contractor logistics and traffic-management plans.
- Strong understanding of construction programs, phasing, risk management and work sequencing.
- Strong leadership, communication, coordination, reporting and presentation skills.
