Key Accountabilities
- Conduct geological modeling and resource estimation activities, including compiling geological data, interpreting geological information, developing geological models and performing mineral resource estimates using specialized software.
- Collaborate with a team of geologists, providing guidance and technical support to ensure accurate and reliable geological models and resource estimates.
- Conduct geological data analysis and interpretation, including drill hole logging, lithological analysis, and structural interpretation, to identify mineralization trends and geological controls.
- Collaborate with exploration and drilling teams to design drilling programs, plan sampling campaigns, and collect geological data for input into geological models.
- Build geological models using modeling software, such as Leapfrog, Datamine, or Surpac, incorporating geological data, structural data, and assay results to create 3D representations of ore bodies and mineral deposits.
- Perform resource estimation and classification using geostatistical methods and techniques, such as ordinary kriging or inverse distance weighting to quantify mineral resources.
- Validate geological models and resource estimates, including cross-validation with drill hole data, comparison with historical data, and sensitivity analysis to assess model robustness.
- Generate geological reports, resource statements, and technical documents for internal use, regulatory compliance, and reporting to stakeholders, including management, investors, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical knowledge and support to project teams, including engineers, mine planners, and metallurgists, interpreting geological models, and resource estimates, and providing insights for project planning and development.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, advancements in geological modeling software, and changes in regulatory requirements related to resource estimation and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field; master's degree or specialization in Economic Geology or Resource Estimation is advantageous.
- Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in geological modeling, resource estimation, or related roles, with progressive experience in mineral exploration and mining projects.
Skills
- Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in geological modeling software, such as Leapfrog, Datamine, or Surpac, and geostatistical techniques for resource estimation.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex geological data, interpret geological information, and develop reliable geological models and resource estimates.
