Senior Facade Specialist - Building Systems in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is a senior Civil Engineering opportunity for an experienced facade professional with advanced expertise in curtain walls, cladding, glazing, structural performance, sustainability, and complex building-envelope systems.
Parsons Corporation is hiring a technical specialist to lead facade engineering activities, guide multidisciplinary teams, and deliver coordinated solutions that satisfy architectural, structural, environmental, budget, programme, and quality requirements.
The position will oversee facade design development, engineering reviews, calculations, specifications, quality control, stakeholder coordination, and project delivery. The successful candidate will combine technical leadership with strong commercial awareness, client communication, risk management, and team supervision capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for facade engineering, design review, and construction coordination activities.
- Ensure facade systems comply with approved specifications, codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Lead the development of innovative and technically robust curtain wall, cladding, and glazing solutions.
- Evaluate aesthetics, structural behavior, energy performance, durability, weather resistance, and maintainability.
- Oversee the preparation and review of facade drawings, calculations, specifications, schedules, reports, and technical submissions.
- Review structural adequacy, anchorage systems, support framing, connection details, tolerances, and movement provisions.
- Assess wind‑load resistance, thermal movement, water penetration, air infiltration, condensation, and acoustic performance.
- Confirm compatibility between facade materials, finishes, sealants, membranes, insulation, and supporting structures.
- Review shop drawings, material submissions, samples, mock‑ups, method statements, and installation procedures.
- Lead technical evaluations of facade contractors, suppliers, specialist consultants, and proposed systems.
- Coordinate facade interfaces with architecture, structure, MEP services, roofs, waterproofing, interiors, and external works.
- Support landscape and public‑realm teams where facade elements interface with surrounding spaces.
- Identify clashes, design gaps, constructability risks, and incomplete interface details.
- Facilitate timely resolution of technical issues before fabrication and installation.
- Manage the facade engineering team and allocate responsibilities according to project priorities.
- Monitor design progress, technical quality, workload, and submission deadlines.
- Develop project schedules, resource plans, design budgets, and delivery forecasts for facade activities.
- Track project performance and implement corrective measures where delays or technical risks arise.
- Maintain facade risk registers and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Establish quality‑control procedures for design, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and handover.
- Conduct technical audits, design reviews, site inspections, and quality assessments.
- Review non‑conformance reports, defects, inspection findings, and corrective‑action proposals.
- Monitor fabrication and installation quality against approved drawings and specifications.
- Support facade performance testing, including air, water, structural, thermal, and mock‑up testing.
- Verify that test results, inspection records, and technical documentation meet project requirements.
- Promote continuous improvement and lessons learned within the facade engineering team.
- Build effective working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and specialist vendors.
- Present facade strategies, technical solutions, risks, and recommendations during project meetings.
- Address client concerns and provide clear updates on progress, quality, and design status.
- Represent Parsons Corporation in technical workshops, reviews, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.
- Support value engineering without compromising safety, performance, durability, or design intent.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with senior facade engineering and project delivery.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architectural engineering, or another relevant discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in facade engineering.
- Strong technical background in curtain walls, glazing, cladding, and building-envelope systems.
- Proven experience leading complex facade packages on large-scale developments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and specialist consultants.
- Experience delivering projects within approved budgets and schedules.
- In-depth knowledge of facade engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with AISC, AISI, local building codes, and relevant international facade standards.
- Strong understanding of structural design principles applied to facade systems.
- Experience reviewing calculations for wind loading, anchors, brackets, mullions, transoms, panels, and glazing.
- Knowledge of thermal, acoustic, moisture, fire, and weatherproofing performance requirements.
- Experience coordinating facade design with architectural, structural, MEP, landscape, and construction teams.
- Familiarity with public-realm and landscape interfaces is advantageous.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software and advanced engineering tools.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, models, calculations, specifications, and test reports.
- Strong experience with quality assurance, quality control, mock-ups, testing, and site inspections.
- Excellent communication, leadership, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage several technical priorities within a fast-paced international project environment.
