Job summary

Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) seeks a senior specialist to lead climate action across mitigation, adaptation and resilience in its Operations Complex – Global Practices and Partnerships Directorate.

You will drive project identification, appraisal and implementation with focus on climate risk screening, GHG accounting and Paris alignment, coordinating consultants and capacity building across member countries.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Climate Change, Sustainability, Environmental Studies or related field.
• 8+ years experience in climate change and environmental project design/implementation.
• Experience with climate risk screening, GHG accounting, climate finance tracking, Paris alignment.
• Experience with vertical funds (GCF, GEF, Adaptation Fund) or bilateral fund proposals.
• Familiarity with MDB environmental and social safeguards and results-based management.
• Experience with IFIs/Development Agencies/Multilateral Banks is preferred.
• Languages: English mandatory; Arabic and French preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical expertise in climate action and sustainability across mitigation, adaptation and resilience.
• Support identification, appraisal and implementation of projects including climate risk screening and Paris alignment.
• Coordinate consultants and junior team members and review their deliverables.
• Lead input on climate change aspects in project design and processing.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, capacity development and reporting on climate portfolio.
