Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Electrical Engineer to support power system protection, protective relays, and SEL products.

The role includes designing, validating, and testing protection schemes and collaborating with customers on installation and commissioning. You will prepare technical documents, participate in functional design specifications, and uphold SEL values and manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
2+ years of experience with electric power systems, protection, relays, and testing.
Knowledge of protection and control, automation, and communications applications.
Willing to travel domestically and internationally at least 25%.
Strong writing, documentation, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn new skills and work cooperatively in a team.
Background check satisfactory; negative drug test.

Responsibilities

Possesses, understands and applies fundamental concepts of power system protection, protective relays, their applications, settings, and testing.
Train and assist customers with design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of protection systems.
Complete and implement assigned work within scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
Prepare design specifications and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables.
Follow SEL values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
