Albawani | البواني is seeking a Risk Manager to lead risk-informed decision-making for construction projects in the Riyadh region. The role partners with Project Control Director and senior leadership to protect cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contractual performance.

The candidate will drive risk identification, assessment, treatment, and reporting, enabling measurable project outcomes and governance-aligned practices across multiple mega projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
  • PMI-RMP certification is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as PMP, CCP, PSP, MRICS are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project risk management frameworks, procedures, methodologies, and reporting standards across projects.
  • Establish project risk registers and ensure risks and opportunities are identified, assessed, owned, and managed.
  • Facilitate risk workshops, brainstorming sessions, and periodic risk reviews with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment of risk practices with governance requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor risk management maturity and drive continuous improvement across projects.
  • Hold stakeholders accountable for implementation of risk treatment actions and escalation of unresolved issues.
  • Act as trusted advisor to Directors and senior leadership on risk exposure and mitigation.

The Risk Manager is responsible for risk-informed decision-making, conducting qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, and supporting Project Control Director and senior leadership in protecting project objectives related to cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contractual performance.

The role acts as a strategic business partner to project leadership by providing objective risk insights, facilitating risk treatment initiatives, and ensuring that risk responses are effectively implemented and translated into measurable project outcomes.

Project Leadership Support & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Project Directors, Project Managers, and senior leadership on project risk exposure and mitigation strategies.
  • Support strategic decision-making through risk-based analysis and scenario planning.
  • Engage with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and joint venture partners regarding project risks and mitigation initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication of key project risks and opportunities across all project stakeholders.
  • Promote a proactive risk management culture throughout the organization.
Risk Reporting, Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare executive-level risk reports, dashboards, heat maps, and trend analyses.
  • Present risk exposure assessments and recommendations to project and executive management.
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and project performance trends.
  • Support project audits, reviews, and assurance activities related to risk management.
  • Benchmark risk management practices and recommend improvements based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Industry / Domain
  • Construction
Necessary Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum 15 years of construction industry experience, including at least 10 years in dedicated Project Risk Management roles and 5 years in managerial positions.
  • Previous hands-on project delivery experience as a Construction Engineer, Site Engineer, Planning Engineer, Scheduler, Cost Engineer, or Cost Control Engineer.
  • Proven experience on large-scale Design & Build, EPC, infrastructure, industrial, and civil mega projects from a contractor perspective.
  • Extensive knowledge of project controls, planning, scheduling, cost management, engineering, procurement, construction, and contract administration.
  • Advanced expertise in Qualitative Risk Assessment, Quantitative Risk Analysis, Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA), Cost Risk Analysis (CRA), Monte Carlo Simulations, Contingency Modelling, and Risk-Based Decision Support.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead risk treatment initiatives and ensure successful implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Strong capability to influence project teams, challenge assumptions constructively, and drive proactive risk management culture.
  • Proven experience supporting Project Directors and Executive Management in strategic decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of international project risk management standards and best practices.
Education and Certification Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • PMI-RMP (Project Management Institute – Risk Management Professional) Certification is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as PMP, CCP, PSP, MRICS, or equivalent are advantageous.
