Job summary

Sycomp is seeking a highly skilled Datacenter Engineer to lead data center deployments and field implementations across customer sites. This contractor role focuses on end-to-end rack deployments, server and network device installation, and strong coordination with customers and OEMs.

You will own onsite delivery, perform OTDR testing, cabling, and validation, and produce as-built documentation while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience in data center deployments and field engineering.
Proven ability to work in multi-vendor network and compute environments.
Experience with OTDR testing and fiber test interpretation.
Ability to read engineering designs, rack elevations and cabling schematics.
Excellent customer-facing communication and onsite coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end rack deployments, including mounting, grounding and labeling.
Install, configure, and commission servers, routers, switches and security devices on site from Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, HPE, Dell.
Own site delivery and acceptance, coordinating with customers, OEMs, and project teams.
Perform fiber and copper termination, testing, and validation for network integrity.
Validate LAN/WAN connectivity and security configurations per designs.
Provide on-site troubleshooting and post-deployment support.
Create as-built docs, rack elevations, test results and handover reports.
Ensure safety and ESD practices during all onsite work.
Mentor junior engineers and field techs on site.
