Job description

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems within water and wastewater treatment facilities. This includes pumps, pipelines, valves, tanks, treatment units, and related infrastructure, ensuring reliable, efficient, and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, install, and supervise mechanical systems in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and reservoirs.
  • Perform analysis and selection of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, compressors, and pipelines.
  • Develop and review mechanical drawings, specifications, and documentation for projects and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure mechanical system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide solutions for operational or project-related challenges.
  • Collaborate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams to ensure integrated and efficient plant operations.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and startup of new mechanical systems and upgrades.
  • Prepare technical reports, maintenance manuals, and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and operators for plant operation and maintenance.
Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering within water treatment, wastewater treatment, or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, pipelines, valves, tanks, and mechanical systems used in water/wastewater operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Experience in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, project execution, and operational support in utility environments.
