Job Summary
Review specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence and dimensions. Read complex blueprints, bill of materials, and other specifications to determine product requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Select fixtures, part holding, and tooling to machine parts as necessary.
- Set up rotors in CNC lathe and machine to the specifications with minimal supervision.
- Operate CNC lathe with Fanuc 31i controller.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth and angle of cut according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Align center of rotor or shaft within 0.001 mm.
- Perform accurate dimensional measurement of rotor using CNC lathe.
- Perform dynamic balancing of rotor and components of rotor using balancing machine.
- Give directions to fitters about balance correction based on result of balancing machine.
- Give directions to fitters about runout correction of impeller based on result of runout measurement with minimal supervision.
- Give directions to crane operator about handling of rotor.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC lathe and VTL as required.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on balancing machine as required.

- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co‑workers and management.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
- Comply with safety regulations, laws and internal rules.
- Wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Mechanical and shop safety knowledge.
- Mechanical drawing reading and comprehension.
Languages
- English – Speaking, Writing, & Typing.
- Arabic – Speaking, Writing, & Typing.
Work Experience
- Three or more years related experience as a machinist in shop environment.
- Familiar with checking ERO (Electrical Runout) and repairing as needed.
- Familiar with checking mechanical runout using dial indicator.
