We are a leading company engaged in the trading and distribution of chemical products in Saudi Arabia. Our company specializes in sourcing, importing, and distributing a wide range of chemical products to various industries. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Sales Engineer to join our team and lead our sales business unit.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage logistics staff, including warehouse personnel, coordinators, and support staff; provide leadership, assign tasks, monitor performance, and foster a positive and productive team environment.
- Train new and existing staff on company policies, safety procedures, and logistics operations; conduct periodic training sessions and ensure team members are well-informed of any updates or changes to processes.
- Develop and maintain employee schedules, ensuring proper staffing levels to meet operational demands; address staffing issues such as absenteeism, overtime, and shift coverage.
- Monitor and manage the day-to-day activities of the logistics operations, including coordination with suppliers for shipments, receiving, storing, and shipping goods, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
- Analyze the efficiency of the logistics processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to streamline operations, reduce turnaround time, and increase productivity.
- Ensure that the goods being handled are accurate, damage-free, and meet quality standards; enforce strict checks on inventory and shipments to maintain high-quality standards.
- Maintain up-to-date records of inventory levels and movements; monitor stock levels, reorder points, and perform regular stock checks to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
- Ensure that stock rotation principles (FIFO, FEFO, etc.) are followed to reduce spoilage, waste, or obsolescence, especially for perishable or time-sensitive goods.
- Perform regular physical inventories and reconcile discrepancies between the system and actual stock levels; investigate and resolve inventory issues such as misplaced, lost, or damaged goods.
- Coordinate and schedule inbound and outbound shipments, customer requirements, and delivery deadlines; ensure timely dispatch of goods and track shipments to avoid delays.
- Liaise with third-party logistics providers (3PL), shipping carriers, and freight forwarders to arrange transportation; negotiate rates, establish contracts, and ensure the best carrier options are chosen for cost and time efficiency.
- Plan the most efficient routes for transportation to minimize costs and ensure timely deliveries.
- Continuously assess and evaluate logistics processes to identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and areas for improvement; implement new systems or workflows to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Identify and implement strategies to reduce logistics-related costs, such as reducing transportation expenses, improving packaging methods, or negotiating better rates with suppliers and carriers.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics efficiency (e.g., on-time delivery, transportation costs, inventory turnover) and ensure the team meets or exceeds targets.
- Ensure logistics operations comply with local regulations regarding transportation, storage, handling of goods, and employee safety.
- Enforce safety policies and guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials, safe lifting techniques, vehicle safety, and emergency response protocols; ensure all staff are trained in these safety procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the logistics operations and develop mitigation strategies to prevent accidents or delays.
- Communicate with internal and external customers regarding delivery schedules, status updates, and any issues related to logistics; ensure customer complaints are handled quickly and effectively.
- Ensure that all customer orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and delivered on time; work with the sales and support service teams to resolve any order fulfillment issues.
- Investigate and resolve any logistical issues, including delayed shipments, inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or transport accidents; act swiftly to mitigate the impact on customers and business operations.
- Ensure that all required documentation, such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, inventory records, and regulatory forms, is accurate and filed in a timely manner.
- Utilize in-house system for full business flow cycle (shipping documents, cargo insurance, SRVs, DN's, credit notes, etc.).
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and service providers, ensuring effective collaboration and addressing any supply chain disruptions.
