Job summary

AECOM is seeking a QA/QC Mechanical Engineer with specialization in fit-out projects to lead quality assurance, quality control, and commissioning of mechanical systems through interior finishing phases.

You will conduct inspections of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection installations, verify TAB and pressure testing, and prepare detailed reports while coordinating with contractors to ensure adherence to specs. On-site onboarding is required for new hires and supports project readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering with at least 5 years in QA/QC and commissioning of mechanical systems in fit-out or interior finishing projects
• Expertise in inspecting and testing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical equipment installations
• Proficiency in pressure testing, flushing, TAB procedures, and commissioning protocols
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design standards, construction specs, and industry best practices
• Proven ability to prepare detailed inspection reports, compliance documentation, and technical assessments
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with contractors, installers, and project teams

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive inspections and walk-downs of mechanical fit-out installations (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, equipment) to verify conformance with design specs and standards
• Perform QA/QC testing protocols including pressure testing, flushing, and TAB records verification
• Verify proper installation of supports, hangers, and ancillary services per drawings and specs
• Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques to assess quality and identify non-conformances
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, quantity surveys, and compliance documentation
• Coordinate with fit-out contractors and installers to resolve deficiencies timely
• Provide technical guidance to technicians, inspectors, and staff on quality standards and testing procedures
