Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks an experienced Insurance & Contract Manager to support rail infrastructure projects by primarily handling contractual matters and overseeing insurance activities. You will lead end-to-end contract management across EPC, design & build, operations and maintenance agreements, and coordinate with brokers and insurers for policy placement and claims.

• Provide contractual advice to project teams and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.
• Support tendering processes including RFPs, bid evaluations and awards.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Insurance & Contract Manager to support rail infrastructure/projects by primarily managing contractual matters (approx. 85%), while also overseeing insurance-related activities (approx. 15%). The ideal candidate will have robust experience in contract management within the rail or infrastructure sector, complemented by a working knowledge of insurance principles relevant to large-scale engineering or transport projects.

Your role

Contract Management (Primary Focus – ~85%)

• Lead end-to-end contract management activities across rail projects, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and obligations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including EPC, design & build, operations, and maintenance agreements.
• Monitor contractor performance against contractual KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Manage contract variations, claims, disputes, and change orders, ensuring risk mitigation and commercial protection.
• Provide contractual advice to project teams, procurement, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support tendering processes, including preparation and review of RFPs, bid evaluations, and contract award documentation.
• Ensure alignment with regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements within the rail industry.
• Maintain proper documentation, contract registers, and reporting.

Insurance Management (Secondary Focus – ~15%)

• Oversee implementation and maintenance of project insurance programs (e.g., CAR, third-party liability, professional indemnity).
• Coordinate with brokers, insurers, and internal stakeholders on policy placement, renewals, and claims management.
• Review contractual insurance requirements and ensure adequate coverage and compliance.
• Support risk assessments and ensure alignment between contractual obligations and insurance coverage.
• Manage insurance claims, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and resolution.
