Job summary

Nawras Power Company in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Control Engineer to ensure the safe, reliable operation of process I&C systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. You will support commissioning and the transition to commercial operations.

The role covers calibration, DCS/PLC maintenance, loop checks, root-cause analysis, and coordination with Operations, Electrical, and Mechanical teams to maximize plant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics.
• Minimum five years of relevant I&C experience, preferably in power plants.
• Experience in commissioning, startup, or transition to O&M is preferred.
• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers, as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot plant instrumentation, DCS, PLC, and control networks.
• Develop preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance plans.
• Diagnose faults in pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical instruments.
• Calibrate instruments, test control valves, conduct loop checks, and verify alarms and interlocks.
• Support commissioning, performance testing, and handover of I&C systems.
• Review control logic, P&IDs, datasheets, and other technical documents.
• Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, and Mechanical teams to improve availability.
• Investigate failures, perform root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.

Department: Operations & Maintenance

Job Purpose

Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power plant's instrumentation and control systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, technical support, and continuous improvement. Support commissioning and the transition to commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot plant instrumentation, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and associated control networks.
• Develop and execute preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance plans for I&C equipment.
• Diagnose faults involving pressure, temperature, flow, level, vibration, and analytical instruments.
• Oversee instrument calibration, control valve testing, loop checks, and functional testing of alarms, interlocks, and protection systems.
• Support commissioning activities, performance testing, punch-list closure, and handover of I&C systems from the EPC contractor to the O&M team.
• Review control logic, cause-and-effect diagrams, P&IDs, instrument datasheets, and other technical documents.
• Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, and Mechanical teams to resolve equipment issues and improve plant availability.
• Investigate equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Plan I&C work during scheduled outages, including manpower, spare parts, tools, and contractor requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, and work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Identify critical spare parts and support procurement through technical specifications and bid evaluations.
• Control changes to logic, setpoints, and system configurations through approved management-of-change procedures.
• Maintain control system backups and support operational technology cybersecurity requirements in coordination with the responsible teams.
• Supervise contractors and provide technical guidance and training to I&C technicians.
• Comply with HSSE requirements, permit-to-work procedures, isolation requirements, and plant operating standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of relevant I&C experience, preferably in a combined-cycle power plant or a comparable industrial facility.
• Experience in power plant commissioning, startup, or transition to O&M is preferred.
• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers, as applicable.

Technical Skills

• Practical knowledge of DCS, PLC, turbine control systems, and plant instrumentation.
• Ability to interpret control logic, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, and cause-and-effect matrices.
• Experience with instrument calibration, control valves, analyzers, and equipment protection systems.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and control system networks.
• Knowledge of CMMS, maintenance planning, root cause analysis, and management of change.
• Strong technical reporting and communication skills in English.
