Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in Riyadh is seeking an Environmental Compliance specialist to oversee contractor adherence to Expo 2030 Environmental Codes of Practice and related permits.

You will conduct inspections, review EMS and Waste Management Plans, and report on environmental performance to project management and client, ensuring sustainable and compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance at construction projects.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001, Saudi environmental regulations, and environmental management systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contractor compliance with environmental requirements and approved management plans.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and site assessments.
• Review EMS, CESMP, Waste Management Plans, Dust Management Plans, and monitoring reports.
• Monitor environmental performance related to waste management, air quality, dust control, hazardous materials, wastewater, noise, and biodiversity.
• Investigate environmental incidents, track corrective actions, and support close-out of non-conformances.
• Prepare environmental reports, compliance dashboards, and performance summaries for management and client.
• Provide environmental guidance, training support, and participate in coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders.

Project Overview:

Expo 2030 Riyadh is a global platform where countries, organizations, and individuals will come together to collaborate. Under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow,” the Expo promotes sustainable development, innovation, and transformative thinking. The event will be held from October 2030 to March 2031 and is expected to welcome over 40 million visits.

The 6 km² Masterplan outlines a comprehensive framework for participation and infrastructure at the Expo. The exhibition space, totaling 491,100 m² GFA, can accommodate up to 197 participating countries and 29 international organizations. Working collaboratively with our customer, Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC), Bechtel will manage the infrastructure program which comprises early works, utilities, and publicly accessible spaces like streets and parks. Our scope on the six-square-kilometer site will transition into a mixed-use legacy development to serve the community after the six-month event is over. The project's master plan leverages international sustainability standards for urban afforestation, treated water, and energy sources.

Job Summary:

Overseeing contractor environmental compliance and ensuring construction activities are implemented in accordance with Expo 2030 Environmental Codes of Practice, environmental permits, applicable regulations, and project sustainability requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

• Monitor and verify contractor compliance with environmental requirements and approved management plans.

• Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and site assessments.

• Review environmental documentation including EMS, CESMP, Waste Management Plans, Dust Management Plans, and monitoring reports.

• Monitor environmental performance related to waste management, air quality, dust control, hazardous materials, wastewater, noise, and biodiversity.

• Investigate environmental incidents, track corrective and preventive actions, and support closure of non-conformances.

• Prepare environmental reports, compliance dashboards, and performance summaries for project management and client.

• Provide environmental guidance, support training activities, and participate in coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders.
