Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Geomatics/Geographic Information Systems Analyst to join our Geospatial and System Support Division (GSSD) within Land Affairs Department.

The Geospatial and System Support Division (GSSD) delivers integrated geospatial services that turn spatial data into actionable intelligence for land‑management, land‑use approvals, conflict identification and decision support, enabling the Company’s exploration, development and production of hydrocarbon resources across the Kingdom. By managing authoritative spatial data, producing analytical outputs, maintaining robust geospatial systems and portals, and integrating emerging digital technologies, GSSD drives operational efficiency, transparency and data‑driven decision‑making for all land‑related activities, ensuring safe, sustainable and cost‑effective hydrocarbon operations.

Your primary role focuses on delivering advanced geospatial analysis and digital solutions that support the Department operations while championing AI, machine‑learning, and deep‑learning integration; you will bridge geospatial data with land‑governance requirements to accelerate cycle times, improve data quality, automate workflows, and generate actionable insights, leading cross‑functional teams to design, build, and continuously evolve geospatial platforms and analytics that enhance operational efficiency and strategic decision‑making.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced geospatial analysis to support land affairs activities, including spatial conflict identification, site selection, land use assessment, land evaluation, and decision-support reporting.
  • Assess land-related spatial data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and fitness for purpose, while improving data models and analytical methodologies to support complex land scenarios.
  • Perform spatial analytics and geoprocessing workflows that integrate regulatory, environmental, infrastructure, and operational datasets to generate actionable insights for land decision making.
  • Provide technical input to the design and enhancement of geospatial systems and digital platforms, ensuring alignment with land governance processes and operational needs.
  • Assess opportunities to apply artificial intelligence, automation, and advanced analytics to geospatial workflows in order to reduce manual effort, improve processing efficiency, and enhance analytical accuracy.
  • Perform data integration activities that combine geospatial information with non-spatial datasets to enable advanced reporting, predictive analysis, and digital transformation use cases.
  • Provide geospatial visualizations, dashboards, and analytical outputs that clearly communicate complex land‑related information to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Synthesize varied data sources into unified geospatial datasets; ensure data integrity through routine audits and quality assurance.
  • Prepare high‑quality executive‑level presentations, technical briefs, and analytical reports to support strategic land‑related decisions, including direct presentations to Executive Vice President (EVP).
  • Translate complex geospatial, analytical, and AI‑driven insights into concise, decision‑ready materials suitable for senior and executive management audiences.
Minimum Requirements
  • As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Geospatial Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, or any related analytical field from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • You will have 5-8 years of experience in geospatial analysis and spatial data management with ESRI ArcGIS Ecosystem. Experience in geospatial AI (including Machine Learning or Deep Learning) with ESRI workflows is an advantage.
  • You will have demonstrated experience in delivering enterprise‑scale geospatial analyses supporting land governance, regulatory assessment, or infrastructure planning.
  • Possess expert knowledge of coordinate reference systems, including their reprojections and conversions, with a focus on understanding the implications of accuracy and performance impact on large‑scale geospatial data analytics.
  • You must have strong experience with geospatial databases, spatial analysis, and digital mapping platforms particularly using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and ArcPro) and Online or Enterprise platforms.
  • Proficient in programming languages or scripting, notably Python and Arcade; familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • You will be able to demonstrate applied experience in artificial intelligence, automation, or advanced analytics within a geospatial or data‑driven environment.
  • Experience in digital transformation initiatives related to geospatial systems, analytics platforms, or data modernization is required.
  • You will have the ability to translate complex geospatial and analytical outputs into clear insights that support informed decision making.
  • Experience working in multi‑stakeholder environments with complex land, regulatory, and operational requirements is preferred.
  • Background in the Energy sector, particularly in Oil & Gas, Renewables, or Utilities is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in authoring technical papers, white papers, or research publications related to geospatial analytics, digital systems, or advanced technologies.
