Job summary

ACWA Power is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel BD to join its Legal – Business Development team in Riyadh, focusing on large-scale energy and infrastructure projects across its global portfolio. You will support transactions from bid submission through financial close and beyond, coordinating with BD, Finance and external counsel.

The role requires a strong Project Finance background, in-house or from a leading law firm, with understanding of lifecycle docs and bankability; energy experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or an equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in Project Finance and/or Banking & Finance.
• Experience gained in-house with a developer or infrastructure company or at a leading international law firm advising sponsors and/or lenders.
• Good understanding of the full project finance lifecycle and how key finance documents work together.
• Strong understanding of financing structures, loan mechanics and bankability.
• Common law qualification is preferred given English-law governed docs.

• Provide legal support on project finance transactions, including bid-stage and financial close activities.
• Advise on the structure, preparation and negotiation of finance documents.
• Support the financing of complex energy and infrastructure projects across multiple markets.
• Work closely with Business Development, Finance and Legal teams, as well as lenders, sponsors and external counsel.
• Identify and manage legal and commercial risks throughout the project financing process.
• Support the team across ACWA Power’s portfolio, including projects in the GCC, Africa and Southeast Asia.

• Support the financing of complex energy and infrastructure projects across multiple markets.
• Work closely with Business Development, Finance and Legal teams, as well as lenders, sponsors, external counsel and other stakeholders.
• Identify and manage legal and commercial risks throughout the project financing process.
• Support the team across ACWA Power’s portfolio, including projects in the GCC, Africa and Southeast Asia.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Law / LLB or equivalent legal qualification.
• Strong experience in Project Finance and/or Banking & Finance.
• Experience gained either in-house with a developer/infrastructure company or within a leading international law firm advising sponsors and/or lenders.
• A good understanding of the full project finance lifecycle and how key finance documents work together.
• Strong understanding of financing structures, loan mechanics and bankability considerations.
• Common law qualification is preferred, given the English-law governed financing documentation used across transactions.
• Experience in energy, power, renewables or infrastructure would be an advantage.
