Job summary

Kwtsteel in Saudi Arabia seeks a senior supervisor to oversee electrical and automation maintenance across plant equipment and control systems, guiding technicians and coordinating preventive and corrective tasks to ensure reliable operations.

Qualifications

  • Shift-level supervision exposure in maintenance activities.
  • Hands-on involvement in planned and unplanned maintenance, inspections, and breakdown response.

Job description

Supervise and coordinate electrical and automation maintenance activities to ensure reliable performance of plant equipment and control systems. Lead technicians in preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance, plan and authorize tasks, audit records, and liaise with production and support departments to achieve safe and efficient operations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Supervise electrical and automation technicians in executing maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspection tasks.
  • Supervise the execution of preventive, shutdown, condition-based, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for motors, drives, PLCs, and automation systems.
  • Liaise with production, mechanical, and utility departments to coordinate maintenance activities and align with plant priorities.
  • Supervise and validate the execution of inspection, preservation, and functional testing activities for critical spare parts in stock, ensuring compliance with defined procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards, and confirming readiness for use when required.
  • Ensure correct and complete recording of maintenance execution data in SAP, validating work order feedback, failure information, time confirmation, and technical comments. Enforce discipline and compliance to ensure reliable equipment history and performance data.
  • Authorize work permits, shift activities, and validate completion of electrical and automation maintenance tasks.
  • Track test reports, maintenance logs, and equipment records to verify accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Ensure safety procedures, isolation practices, and work permit systems are properly followed during all maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose recurring faults in automation and electrical systems and elevate complex issues to higher-level engineers or department head for resolution.
  • Allocate manpower, tools, and testing instruments to optimize task execution and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities at the field level, ensuring accurate data collection, factual input from execution teams, and implementation of approved preventive actions. Ensure RCA recommendations are applied and sustained through maintenance execution and standard work practices.
  • Provide technical input and specifications to the purchasing department for procurement of electrical and automation equipment.
  • Conduct quality control inspections for all incoming materials, tools, and components related to the electrical and automation systems.
  • Report maintenance performance, equipment reliability, and improvement recommendations to the Engineer II or Department Head.
  • Support the implementation of improvement actions based on audit findings and performance KPIs.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Required Qualifications:
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering fields such as Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Automation or related fields.
Preferred Experience:
  • Diploma: Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in steel industry or heavy industry operations including at least 4 years of electrical and automation maintenance in rolling mills or similar and minimum of 2 years supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in steel industry or heavy industry operations including at least 2 years of electrical and automation maintenance in rolling mills or similar and minimum of 2 years supervisory role.
  • Practical exposure to shift-level supervision of electrical, electronic, and automation maintenance activities.
  • Hands-on involvement in planned and unplanned maintenance, inspections, and breakdown response.
Job-Specific Skills
  • Knowledge of motors, drives, PLCs, and automation systems.
  • Competence in diagnosing and escalating electrical/automation faults.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM and MM Modules, CMMS, testing tools, and electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Ability to lead technicians and allocate resources effectively.
  • Strong adherence to Quality (IMS/ISO) & Plant Safety Standards, SOPs, risk prevention measures, and emergency procedures.
  • Effective communication, coordination, basic problem-solving, and reporting skills for workshop and maintenance operations.
