Job summary

Sycomp seeks a hands-on Datacenter Engineer to lead data center deployments across customer sites in a contractor role. You will own onsite delivery, coordinate with customers and OEMs, perform fiber/copper terminations, OTDR testing, and validate network integrity from rack to core.

You will work with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, HPE, and Dell equipment, ensuring designs are implemented accurately and safely. This is a 12-month extendable contract based in Saudi Arabia.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in data center deployments and field engineering.
• Proven ability to work in multi-vendor network and compute environments.
• Experience with OTDR testing and fiber test interpretation.
• Structured cabling (fiber & copper), rack integration and power layout.
• Network hardware installation and validation.
• Ability to read engineering designs, rack elevations, and cabling schematics.
• Excellent customer-facing communication and onsite coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end rack deployments including mounting, cabling, power integration, grounding and labeling.
• Install, configure, and commission servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless gear from major OEMs.
• Own site delivery and acceptance, coordinating with customers, OEMs, and project teams.
• Perform fiber and copper termination, patching, OTDR testing, and validation for network integrity.
• Validate LAN/WAN connections, redundancy, failover and security per design.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis during installation and post-deployment support.
• Produce and maintain as-built docs, rack elevations, test results and handover reports.
• Ensure onsite work adheres to data center standards and safety.

This is a project‑driven, deployment-focused role, requiring strong multi‑vendor experience, ownership of onsite delivery, and close coordination with customers, OEMs, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute end‑to‑end rack deployments, including rack mounting, bolt‑down, structured cabling (fiber and copper), power integration, grounding, and equipment labeling.
• Perform onsite installation, configuration, and commissioning of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless equipment from OEMs such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, HPE, and Dell.
• Own site delivery and acceptance, working directly with customers, OEM engineers, and Sycomp project teams.
• Conduct fiber and copper termination, patching, OTDR testing, and performance validation to ensure network integrity and reliability.
• Validate LAN/WAN connectivity, redundancy, failover, and security configurations against approved designs.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis during installation and post‑deployment support.
• Produce and maintain as‑built documentation, rack elevations, test results, and handover reports.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience in data center deployments and field engineering.
• Proven ability to work in multi‑vendor network and compute environments.
• Solid expertise in:
• Structured cabling systems (fiber & copper)
• Rack integration and power layout
• Network hardware installation and validation
• Experience performing OTDR testing and interpreting fiber test results.
• Ability to read and execute engineering designs, rack elevations, and cabling schematics.
• Strong customer‑facing communication and onsite coordination skills.
• Self‑driven, quality‑focused, and comfortable owning end‑to‑end delivery.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in large‑scale or multi‑site data center deployments
• Exposure to acceptance testing and commissioning sign‑off
• Leadership or site‑lead experience on customer projects
