Leading logistics and transportation company is seeking a Container Yard Supervisor to oversee daily yard operations, ensuring safe, accurate and efficient receiving, storing and delivery of containers.

The role requires hands-on experience in container yards or terminals, with skills in yard planning, inventory control and KPI monitoring. Strong leadership for yard teams and equipment operators is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• University degree is preferred, but strong hands-on container yard experience will be given significant priority.
• Proven hands-on experience in container yards, container terminals, logistics yards, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all daily container yard operations including receiving, storing, handling, moving and delivering containers.
• Plan and organize container locations and stacking to maximize yard capacity and efficiency.
• Ensure accurate container locations and alignment between physical inventory and yard records or management system.
• Supervise entry/exit procedures with proper documentation and container ID.
• Monitor container conditions, document and report visible damages.
• Manage movement of yard equipment, trucks and operators to minimize congestion and waiting times.

Job description

The Container Yard Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the container yard ensuring the safe accurate and efficient receiving storing handling and delivery of containers. The role requires strong hands-on experience in container yards container terminals or related logistics operations with proven ability to manage container stacking yard space utilization equipment and truck movements inventory accuracy container damage assessment and shift operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Supervise and coordinate all daily container yard operations including receiving storing handling moving and delivering containers.
• Plan and organize container locations and stacking to maximize yard capacity and operational efficiency.
• Ensure accurate container locations and maintain alignment between physical inventory and the yard management system or operational records.
• Supervise container entry and exit procedures ensuring proper documentation authorization and container identification.
• Monitor container conditions and ensure visible damages are identified documented and reported according to approved procedures.
• Manage the movement of yard equipment trucks and operators to minimize congestion and truck waiting times.
• Monitor equipment and operator productivity and coordinate with maintenance teams regarding equipment breakdowns.
• Supervise and manage yard workers equipment operators and shift teams ensuring adequate staffing and effective task allocation.
• Monitor yard occupancy container movements productivity and operational efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance with yard safety procedures PPE requirements and operational standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in container receiving, delivery, storage, stacking, and movement operations.
• Strong knowledge of container yard planning, stacking, inventory control, and yard space utilization.
• Previous experience supervising yard teams, equipment operators, and shifts.
• Experience in identifying and assessing container damage and physical condition is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of Container Yard Management Systems (CYMS) or similar operational systems is an advantage.
• Ability to monitor yard productivity, equipment utilization, truck turnaround time, and operational KPIs.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with multinational teams.
• Good computer skills and ability to prepare operational reports.
• English communication skills are preferred.
