Job summary

SMC International Placement is seeking an experienced coating inspector to supervise coating painting and surface preparation activities at project sites. You will ensure adherence to approved specifications and perform inspections of surface prep, blasting and coating applications.

You will monitor cleanliness, surface profile, environmental conditions and coating thickness, and verify WFT/DFT measurements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant coating inspection certifications are an advantage.
• Experience with coating inspection standards and testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Supervise coating painting and surface preparation activities at project sites
• Ensure coating works comply with approved specifications project requirements and applicable standards
• Inspect surface preparation, abrasive blasting and coating application activities
• Monitor surface cleanliness, surface profile, environmental conditions and coating thickness
• Verify wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT) measurements
• Ensure proper mixing, application, curing and handling of coating materials
• Review coating procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and method statements
• Coordinate with QC inspectors, site engineers, contractors and client representatives
• Identify coating defects and non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Maintain inspection reports, material records and quality documentation
• Ensure compliance with project quality requirements and site HSE procedures
