Job summary

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead daily accounting operations and manage a team within our luxury property in Saudi Arabia. You will verify bank reconciliations, supervise the General Cashier, and ensure timely tax filings while producing monthly financial statements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, 5+ years of accounting experience with 2+ in leadership, and proficiency in PeopleSoft or Opera.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Opera, etc.).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting operations, with mentoring of staff and ensuring teamwork.
• Verify daily bank balances; prepare bank and credit card reconciliations for Director of Finance approval.
• Verify accuracy of General Cashier reports and daily revenue deposits.
• Perform month-end reconciliations and issue monthly financial statements; report gaps to the Director of Finance.
• Review monthly reports (e.g., F&B, Cost Controller reports) as per hotel policy.
• Ensure timely tax payments and filings; resolve variances.
• Prepare monthly management reports as required.
• Assist the Director of Finance in CAPEX reviews, policy applications, budgeting, and analyses.
• Ensure proper filing of accounting records, including contracts.
• Keep updated with new regulations and IHG policies.

Chief Accountant

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

• To supervise daily accounting operations, supervising, controls, mentoring staff, ensuring teamwork and efficient and effective operation.
• To verify daily bank balances through review of bank statements, prepare bank reconciliation and credit card reconciliation for Director of Finance approval.
• To verify the accuracy of General Cashier report and that revenue are daily deposited into the bank by the General Cashier.
• To perform month-end accounts reconciliation of all general ledger balances before issuing monthly financial statements. Report any gaps or variance to the Director of Finance.
• To review monthly report like F&B report, Cost Controller’s report etc. as per hotel policy
• To ensure all tax payment and filing are respected timely, and variances are resolved.
• To prepare various monthly reports as required by Management.
• To assist the Director of Finance in reviewing CAPEX, application of accounting policy, budgeting, financial analysis, and Ad hoc duties.
• To ensure proper filing of accounting records, including contracts, and easy retrievals.
• To keep updated with new regulations and IHG policies.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Opera, etc.).

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
