Summary
Provisions of Anaesthesia to patients undergoing cardiac & other surgical procedures, including setting up for the procedure & the operation, maintenance and servicing of all Anaesthesia equipment.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares, sets up, operates, and maintains all anaesthesia-related equipment, including anaesthesia machines, TEE, physiologic monitors, transducers, and paediatric and adult carts.
- Prepares, labels, and administers medications under the supervision of the Consultant Anaesthesiologist and in accordance with approved prescriptions and policies.
- Assists in preparing and supporting all anaesthesia procedures, including blood transfusion, intravascular catheterization,invasive and non-invasive monitoring, general, regional, and local anaesthesia,chemotherapy, and organ transplantation as required.
- Ensures the availability and readiness of all required drugs, supplies, infusion fluids, and equipment prior to and during anaesthesia and surgical procedures.Accurately documents anaesthesia-related data in the anaesthesia chart under Anaesthesiologist supervision following appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Assists the Anaesthesiologist during anaesthesia induction, including manual ventilation and intubation, under direct supervision as required.
- Supports the Anaesthesiologist during emergency situations, including resuscitation, trauma cases, and activation of the major disaster plan.
- Verifies, checks, and administers blood and blood products with the Anaesthesiologist in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Performs blood gas analysis and laboratory-related tests including blood sugar, ACT, PT, PTT, INR, TEG, and ROTEM, as required.
- Cleans, decontaminates, and prepares anaesthesia equipment after each use in accordance with sterile processing department protocols and infection control standards.
- Transports patients to and from the operating room withor without physician assistance, based on the patient’s condition and clinical needs.
- Participates in on-call, late, and float shift assignments; supports education and training activities; and performs additional related duties as assigned.
- Follows all Hospital’s related policies and procedures.
- Participates in self and others’ education, training, and development, as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s or Associate Degree /Diploma in Anaesthesia is required
Experience Required
Grade 08
Two (2) years of related experience with Bachelor’s, or four (4) years with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
Grade 09
Four (4) years as Cardiac Anaesthesia Technologist at KFSHRC, or (Grade 08) related experience is required.
Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
Fifty (50 hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].
Other Requirements (Certificates)
Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties(SCHS) is required.
