Your impact

At Jacobs, our Energy & Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach, offering end-to-end services to support our clients across transmission & distribution, conventional and renewable power generation, energy storage, hydrogen, decarbonisation and broader energy infrastructure markets.

As the energy transition accelerates globally, we are helping utilities, developers, governments, and industrial clients address some of their most complex challenges. From grid modernisation and renewable integration to major capital infrastructure programs, we bring together deep technical expertise and innovative delivery solutions to create a more connected and sustainable world.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Business Development Director / Client Delivery Director to join our dynamic Energy & Power team. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving profitable growth across a portfolio of strategic clients, developing long-term client relationships, identifying and securing major opportunities, and working closely with operational leaders to deliver exceptional client outcomes.

The successful candidate will combine strong business development capability with executive-level relationship management, strategic sales leadership, and a deep understanding of the Energy & Power sector.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement growth strategies across a portfolio of Energy & Power clients, aligning client needs with Jacobs' global capabilities and solutions.
  • Build, maintain and expand executive-level relationships with utility, government, developer and industrial clients, including C-suite stakeholders, Boards and key decision makers.
  • Identify, qualify and develop a sustainable pipeline of opportunities across transmission, distribution, generation, renewable energy, storage and emerging energy markets.
  • Lead major pursuits through all stages of the sales lifecycle, including opportunity identification, positioning, capture planning, proposal development, interviews, negotiations and contract award.
  • Develop and execute Client Account Plans that increase market share, diversify service offerings and achieve year-on-year growth objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Solutions & Technology leaders and technical subject matter experts to develop compelling and differentiated client solutions.
  • Drive account growth through strategic relationship mapping, executive engagement, thought leadership and early positioning activities.
  • Lead Go/No-Go reviews, capture planning and opportunity risk assessments, ensuring robust commercial, legal and technical evaluations are completed.
  • Support contract negotiations, pricing strategies and commercial discussions to maximise value, profitability and long-term client partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, regulatory developments and emerging client needs to proactively position Jacobs for future opportunities.
  • Work with project delivery teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution and maintain strong client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and mentor client account teams, supporting the development of business development capability and sales excellence across the broader organisation.
  • Track pipeline performance, opportunity progression, account activities and forecasting through Salesforce and other business systems.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Commerce or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
  • Proven experience in business development, key account management, sales leadership or client management within the Energy & Power sector.
  • Demonstrated success securing major programmes, projects or framework agreements with utilities, transmission operators, government agencies, developers or industrial clients.
  • Strong understanding of the Energy & Power market, including transmission & distribution, conventional generation, renewable energy, storage, grid modernisation and energy transition initiatives.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic account plans and driving sustainable revenue growth across key client portfolios.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience leading complex pursuits, contract negotiations and pricing strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across matrix organisations, bringing together technical, operational and commercial teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted advisor relationships at executive and senior management levels.
  • Strong strategic thinking, market analysis and opportunity assessment capabilities.
