The RRZ is the service and competence center for the provision of IT services and science-oriented (high-performance) IT infrastructures to all user groups of the university as part of the cooperative IT supply concept of the University of Hamburg. To this end, the RRZ operates high-performance information, communication and media technology infrastructures as well as the corresponding application systems and user services.
Field of Activity
- Team management with personnel and specialist responsibility, in particular with regard to the continuous training and further education of team members, structuring of specialist groups
- Deputy head of department
- Responsible for the planning, expansion and operation of network virtualization at the University of Hamburg, in particular with regard to switching/routing, data center networking, network security, SDN and automation
- Support department management in the further development of the IT strategy
- Actively help shape cross-departmental projects, take responsibility for relevant documentation and transfer to operations
- Provide interfaces for automation
- Standardize application requirements and needs
- Provide technical advice, instruction and training to central and decentralized administrators
- Cross-team quality assurance and control of ticket processing for the department
Recruitment Requirements
- University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science or a comparable field of study or equivalent skills, experience and qualifications
- In-depth and multi-year knowledge in the design, development and implementation of highly complex networked systems
- Sound knowledge in the areas of network virtualization, routing/switching, load balancing, firewall and VPN
- Sound and multi-year knowledge in the administration of Linux systems and Linux services
- Experience in the operation of Cisco network components and appliances
- Knowledge in the area of ITIL and ITSM
- Experience in project management
- Several years of experience in personnel management
- Excellent written and spoken German and a good command of English
- Leadership skills and responsible interaction with employees
- Quick comprehension and very good team and communication skills
- A high degree of responsibility and stress resistance, even in exceptional situations
