Senior Innovation Engineer, WW AMZL Innovation and Design Engineering
Amazon, founded in 1995, aims to be the world's most customer-centric company, offering a vast selection of products online. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) seeks an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Senior Hardware Development Engineer to lead the development of new mechatronic products for our Delivery Stations of the future. This role involves strategizing, defining, and managing the lifecycle of new mechatronic technologies within the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team.
The ideal candidate will possess robotics, engineering, planning, and analytical skills, influencing the automation roadmap by collaborating with Robotics, Software Tech Teams, Process Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and other Engineering teams to enhance the customer shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end development of equipment technologies from ideation through testing and implementation.
- Develop requirements, specifications, verification plans, and test procedures.
- Gather customer feedback and field data to inform new solutions and enhancements.
- Drive technical and business decisions using data-driven insights from tests and validations.
- Define project timelines, manage budgets, and oversee progress reviews.
- Collaborate with simulation teams to validate ideas and optimize workflows.
- Develop scalability strategies for new technologies in partnership with various teams.
A Day in the Life
You will innovate and develop new technologies for AMZL, working with vendors, field teams, and prototypes to enable rapid design iterations. Your work will involve building business cases, understanding technical impacts on processes, and improving associate experiences.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years in mechatronics system development and validation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Experience in scalable machine design, cost reduction, and maintainability.
- Ability to manage complex projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
- Experience with PLM software and ECO processes.
- Experience with manufacturing simulation/emulation software (FlexSim, Emulate3D, etc.).
- Data analytics skills with SQL, Amazon Quicksight, or similar tools.
- Experience with Machine Learning, IoT, AI platforms.
- Proficiency in German or French is a plus but not required.
