About the role

Project Managers Approval - PMA - Who are we?

Are you passionate about working with people, wishing to explore and develop in the world of project management, enjoy working with customers and are solution orientated? Then please read on.

Our PMA section in ACE consists of 17 PMA's across three locations; Hamburg, Gdynia and Høvik, forming a team with a rich knowledge base, decades of experience and great diversity. We are looking to strengthen our team with one additional PMA's.

As a PMA you would have the opportunity to work on a range of NB and FiS projects covering a variety of ship types. Communication and collaboration with many stakeholders, requirements for timely approval and great budget control are just some daily activities. Complementing this are the opportunities to work with alternative fuels, autonomy and advanced technology NB projects. In addition to the exciting alteration projects where meeting the high expectations from our customers and keeping the tempo is key.

This is an exciting and demanding position that allows you to grow, build on your experience and widen your outlook here in DNV in a fun way and with a great team.

Location: Hamburg, Gdynia or Høvik.

Where would I work?

The Approval Centre Europe, ACE, (M-SA) within Maritime Ship Classification consists of 440 employees within six production departments and four central function groups, located across three different locations (Gdynia, Hamburg and Høvik). The main delivery from the Approval organization is approval, verification and certification services for different maritime related assets in accordance with our rules.

The Approval organization in DNV is driven by people's competence and motivation to help and support our customers through the consistent delivery of high-quality services. As a member of M-SA, you act in a professional, competent, and service oriented environment and in return receive good possibilities to enhance your personal competencies and expertise, and to build a strong network with colleagues across locations.

The PMA Unit (PMA) is one of the central function groups in the Approval organization, and consists of 18 members, covering PMA NB and FiS work.

What would I do?

(PMA Tasks and Responsibilities)

The PMAs main responsibilities are the effective coordination and management of the E2E process of alterations (conversions) and newbuilding classification, with focus on approval activities:
  • Coordination with ship owners, ship managers and our field units/surveyors,
  • Planning and managing project resources to meet targets and time constraints,
  • Maintaining budget control and quality during the projects' lifetime,
  • Coordinating with flag state organisations and other stakeholders,
  • Pro-active steering and collaboration with DNV internal resources,
  • Working together to improve the teams processes and productivity,
  • And having fun!

Do you have the following qualifications, experience and skills?
  • Bachelor- or Master degree in engineering, naval architecture, or comparable experience.
  • Experience with shipyards, as NB surveyor/PM field, CMC services and/or as plan approval engineer.
  • Knowledge of and experience with DNV FiS services and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience on certain project types or ship types, e.g. Navy, Passenger could be advantageous.
  • Confident, independent and structured.
  • Comfortable when working directly with customers and other stakeholders
  • Enjoy working under pressure and with a high workload.
  • Have a high level of flexibility, team-player, reliable and willing take on responsibility.
  • Have the ability to resolve conflicts and work in a solution oriented way.
  • Reliable, productive and practice problem solving
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written.
  • User knowledge of DNV Maritime production tools (i.e., Workbench, My Services, etc.)
