Technical Writer User Documentation – Sustainability Software (m/w/x)

Description

As a Technical Documentation Specialist, you’ll play a key role in shaping how users interact with and understand our ESG and sustainability software products. You'll take ownership of creating clear, engaging, and user-centric documentation—from product manuals and FAQs to release notes, blog articles, and educational content.

You help us make complex topics accessible and ensure that both our users and internal teams stay informed, empowered, and aligned. Your Responsibilities

Create and maintain high-quality content including user manuals, product guides, FAQs, release notes, blog posts, and internal enablement materials
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly language in both German and English
Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, designers, and a dedicated internal content specialist
Support cross-functional knowledge sharing by writing internal posts and educational pieces around ESG topics and product developments
Maintain and evolve our documentation structure, templates, and tone of voice
Gather feedback from users and internal stakeholders to continuously improve the quality, clarity, and usability of content
Manage content updates using content management systems (CMS) and version control tools
Ensure documentation needs are aligned with product release cycles and actively contribute during planning phases
Bring in fresh ideas to improve documentation tools, workflows, and knowledge-sharing processes
Keep content structured, consistent, and aligned with best practices in technical writing and information architecture

Your Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, German Studies, English, Computer Science, or a related field – or at least 3 years of relevant professional experience
Proven ability to work independently and structure your workday effectively
Strong writing and editing skills in both English and German (C2), with a keen eye for detail and clarity
Experience creating both technical documentation and user-facing content such as blog articles or tutorials
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and version control
Comfortable collaborating across teams and juggling multiple content projects at once
Experience working in Agile environments is a plus
A portfolio with writing samples—ideally including documentation content—is required

Nice to have

Knowledge of ESG, sustainability, or compliance-related topics
Experience with visual communication tools (e.g., flowcharts, diagrams)
Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS) and how APIs are documented
