Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a new colleague to join our faculty in Potsdam and Berlin on a full-time basis, starting in October 2025.

The Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to contribute to the academic excellence and strategic development of Gisma University of Applied Sciences through high-quality teaching, impactful research, and active participation in the academic community. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping and delivering innovative programmes in Business Analytics and Econometrics, with a focus on integrating practical, data-driven approaches into the curriculum. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with an international student body, collaborate with industry and research partners, and influence the evolution of data-centric education in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

1. Module responsibility and teaching of Gisma’s Bachelor and Master programmes, particularly in the fields of Business Analytics, Econometrics, and related areas, as well as examination, assessments, and student supervision.
2. Active participation in programme development, quality assurance, and the integration of advanced analytics into the curriculum.
3. Conception, creation, and adaptation of contemporary teaching and learning materials aligned with developments in data-driven finance and technology.
4. Initiate, expand, and maintain cooperation with partners in industry and research, particularly in FinTech, financial modelling, and data analytics domains.
5. Participation in national and international accreditation procedures, as needed.
6. Active engagement in academic administration and committee work.
7. Further development of a personal and institutional research profile in Business Analytics, Econometrics, or Data-Driven Finance, publication of results in high-quality journals, and engagement in public dissemination.
8. Participation in outreach, including student recruitment events and promotion of data-oriented study tracks.

In Addition, You Demonstrate

• Completed university studies in a relevant discipline such as Econometrics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics.
• Conception, creation, and adaptation of contemporary teaching and learning materials aligned with developments in business analytics, econometrics, and data-driven financial technologies.
• Proof of extraordinary qualification for scientific work in the form of an outstanding doctorate and/or a strong record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
• A minimum of three years of qualified professional experience, including at least two years outside a university environment, gained after a master's degree or equivalent.
• Proven university-level teaching experience, with competence in blended, online, and interactive learning methodologies. Student evaluations should reflect excellent pedagogical aptitude.
• A strong affinity for digitalisation and data analytics in finance and economics.
• Fluency in English for teaching and research purposes; international academic or industry experience is highly valued.
• A publication record in fields such as applied econometrics, statistical learning, or financial analytics.
• Experience in developing and leading research projects, ideally with success in acquiring third-party funding.
• Innovative perspectives for advancing research and curriculum in Business Analytics and Econometrics.
• Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes is an asset.
