About the Position:
Serves as an Accounting Technician supporting all medical billing functions for the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and its area of responsibility.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
- Correct errors for reimbursement.
- Apply correct transaction codes to accounts.
- Submit medical claims to insurance companies.
- Review insurance responses to medical claims.
- Research denied claims for denials management.
- Use automated systems to review, submit, or post payments for each account.
- Correspond with Budget Office, Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS), Defense Health Agency (DHA) Resource Management, and DHA Uniform Business Office to resolve errors.
- Review and process unresolved accounts.
- Provide internal and external customer service to stakeholders.
- Use software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint to perform daily duties.
- Perform a broad range of administrative functions within the medical treatment facility.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
- One-year trial/probationary period may be required.

- This is a Financial Management Level 1 Certified position; incumbent must comply with all DoD certification requirements.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement, subject to annual vaccination in accordance with DHA Procedural Instruction 6025.34.
Qualifications

For GS-05
Specialized Experience: One year of experience maintaining accounting documents, using automated billing systems to retrieve data, and reconciling transactions. This is typical of work at the GS-04 level.
OR
Four years of education above high school level from an accredited institution.
OR
Combination of education and experience, totaling at least 100% of requirements.
For GS-06
Specialized Experience: One year of experience processing claims, using automated systems to retrieve data, and resolving discrepancies through research or review. This is typical of work at the GS-05 level.
Note: Education cannot substitute experience for GS-06 qualification.
