Payments is a core product for Cash Management and a key growth area in Deutsche Bank’s strategy. To support our growth ambitions and maintain our position as a leading global player in the competitive payments market, we are investing significantly in our payment infrastructure. These improvements must adapt to market dynamics, evolving client demands, and increasing competition, while also addressing the complexity of our existing infrastructure. The foundation for this investment is a target state architecture for the end-to-end payment process.

As a Lead Business Functional Analyst (f/m/x), you will work closely with business and technical leads and stakeholders to ensure alignment with client needs during the initial demand shaping phase. You will facilitate and coordinate business as well as market and audit requirement analyses. You will prepare solution designs considering Payments domain architectural principles and create clear end-to-end process flows for business-critical solutions.

Your key responsibilities

• Clarify and assess business, regulatory, audit, and market requirements in collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Prepare solution designs for complex business requirements involving multiple applications in the processing chain and develop clear end-to-end payment processing flow diagrams.
• Develop functional specifications in collaboration with Business Analysts, Application Owners, and Solution Architects, ensuring solutions align with business needs and architecture guidelines.
• Take full ownership of delivered functionalities from start to finish.
• Coordinate end-to-end testing, including preparing test plans, cases, data, and reviewing interface testing between applications. Work with developers to resolve major functional issues during UAT.
• Drive continuous improvement of requirements analysis processes and automate documentation where possible.

Your skills and experiences

• Several years of experience as a lead business analyst, functional analyst, or systems analyst.
• Knowledge of global payments processing systems and flows, including SWIFT workflows (preferable).
• Ability to produce business requirement documents (BRDs) and detailed specifications (SRS, FRDs).
• Intermediate to advanced SQL skills and logical data modeling.
• Understanding of industry formats such as XML and JSON.
• Knowledge of UML or similar notation and basic understanding of Java/Kotlin code reading skills.
