This position is within Cargill's Food and Bioindustrial Business, supporting manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies to deliver reliable products and services, leveraging our technical expertise and market knowledge for innovative solutions.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Process Automation Engineer applies technical expertise to develop standards, applications, and solutions that improve production quality, efficiency, and output at our site, focusing on process automation and related software. You will support automation projects and collaborate with electrical and instrumentation teams to enhance capabilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design and implement safe, reliable processes using automation engineering principles and best practices.
  • Support and execute process automation tasks (software and hardware) in line with industry standards, including documentation updates (e.g., FUPs, URS, FDS, P&IDs).
  • Lead or assist small-scale capital projects and contribute to larger automation initiatives.
  • Ensure project progress aligns with business and cost objectives, especially regarding process control and automation.
  • Identify, implement, and monitor process improvements based on industry standards.
  • Maintain automation equipment and infrastructure, including connected systems.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with process automation software and hardware in chemical production or similar environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex system issues.
  • Solid technical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in German and good command of English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industry standards and techniques related to process control systems (e.g., PCS7 or similar platforms).
