About the Role
- The Hardware Senior Engineer / Expert and HW Architect is a member of a global HW development team responsible for realizing telematics and connectivity functions in automotive IVI and telematics systems. This includes assessment of requirements, feasibility definition, concept implementation, and verification.
- She/he will be embedded in the Telematics Development Team within the SBU Connectivity, reporting to the Team Leader HW Engineering and/or the Director of Hardware Engineering.
What You Will Do
- Development, testing, and verification of analog, digital, and RF circuits for telematics/connectivity functional blocks within complex hardware architectures, considering new technology, quality, cost, and suitability for series production.
- Introduction and training in Wireless Technologies and RF Design to act as an expert in:
- Development, testing, and verification of appropriate analog, digital, and RF circuits.
- Supporting analysis, evaluation, and feasibility of customer requirements and OEM specifications for RFC, RFI, RFQ, and CRs, including BOM estimates and effort calculation.
- Assisting in conception, commercial evaluation, and providing technical specifications, documentation, and presentation materials for Telematics and Connectivity function blocks and products.
- Preparing technical requirement specifications for purchased components/modules used in telematics/connectivity blocks and evaluating/sourcing suitable suppliers.
- Serving as a technical interface to suppliers and customers.
- Supporting the definition of the technology roadmap.
- Gaining knowledge of RF requirements for wireless technologies (BT, WIFI, V2X, Mobile Networks) and assisting in defining, simulating, and measuring RF design aspects with Wireless Experts.
- Collaborating globally with other departments and locations, including System Design, Construction, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Software during the development process.
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in HW development, verification, and industrialization of in-vehicle infotainment systems, telematics/connectivity systems, or similar automotive ECUs.
- Knowledge and experience in RF design, wireless technologies (mobile, V2X, WIFI, BT), and telematics features.
- Proficiency with schematic/layout tools and simulation software (e.g., Mentor Graphics, SPICE) and Microsoft applications.
- Structured, target-oriented work style within an international team.
- Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, DNG, ALM) is beneficial.
- Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
Beneficial Qualifications
- Proficiency in German language skills.
- Experience designing hardware compliant with ASIL / ISO 26262 standards.
Eligibility Requirements
- Willingness to travel within Germany and internationally as needed (around 10-25%).
