Ocean Chartering - Europe Global Projects & Industry Solutions (m / f / d)

Job Location : This role will be based in Germany (Hamburg) or Rotterdam (Netherlands).

Job Purpose

• Develop and grow relationships and future business with targeted carriers.
• Develop a carrier pool for DB Schenker considering DB Schenker requirements.
• Serve as the point of contact for the Global Projects & Industry Solutions team for charter enquiries.
• Act as the point of contact for carriers for inquiries and quotes.
• Perform a chartering role, acting as a broker between internal customers/colleagues and external carriers.
• Enhance cooperation between carriers and DB Schenker in the region.
• Grow and develop the chartering team and knowledge in Europe.
• Respond actively to internal DB Schenker requests for solutions & prices from carriers and maintain direct local relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Work closely with the local & regional business development teams to develop innovative solutions to ensure growth in the ocean chartering business.
• Educate business development teams on chartering and support sales/solution discussions with clients as needed.
• Ensure ocean chartering activities are undertaken safely and in compliance with DB Schenker guidelines and operational procedures.
• Minimize DB Schenker's liability exposure on charter bookings through carrier/vessel vetting and by negotiating favorable terms.
• Report functionally to the Head of Global Chartering.

Key Tasks

• Grow the regional/local chartering team and act as a central focal point alongside other regional and global team members.
• Handle inquiries from DB Schenker's Global Projects & Industry Solutions Team for ocean charters originating from Europe.
• Analyze inquiries and determine strategies and solutions for the charter scope, selecting the most suitable carrier to win bids/tenders.
• Create overviews and present pricing and solution recommendations.
• Drive competitive pricing, ensure compliance, and manage carriers effectively.
• Translate and explain pricing and requirements internally and externally to carriers and clients.
• Explore all possibilities for optimal results.
• Support the pricing process, ensure data quality, and maintain compliance.
• Use benchmarking tools to ensure competitive pricing.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for colleagues and clients.
• Support and assist other chartering regions when required.

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience/qualification.
• Over 10 years of relevant experience in project chartering, heavy lift cargo.
