Sales Trader

A well-established Japanese trading house is currently looking for a Trader to join their busy Steel Department in their Amsterdam Branch.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to advance their career within the company.

TYPE : Permanent, full-time

WORKING HOURS : 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday

Work Style : Currently hybrid, working in the office 3 days a week

START : ASAP

LOCATION : Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Responsibilities :

• Visiting suppliers & customers worldwide and building good relationships
• Conducting negotiations on buying and selling activities (e.g., price, specifications, delivery conditions)
• Collaborating with administrative staff for documentation, transport, shipping, and insurance arrangements
• Exploring new customers and projects across various countries & industries, including supply chain establishment
• Setting up new credit lines by analyzing financial reports
• Monitoring market trends, industrial indices, and price movements to seek business opportunities worldwide
• Resolving claims and complaints with technical & commercial approaches
• Attending to internal & external visitors, including arranging transportation and accommodations
• Understanding the team’s sales targets and setting up personal goals
• Daily reporting to the manager

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of work experience (experience at Japanese companies is advantageous)
• Right to work in the Netherlands (e.g., EU nationality, Dutch work permit)
• Business-level English and Japanese skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Proficient in email (Outlook) and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong interpersonal and customer-oriented communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively across all levels of staff and management
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• EU driving license (for business trips)
• Experience in sales/trading roles is preferable

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of other European languages, especially Dutch and German
• Experience in international trading with knowledge of trade terms
