Senior Mechanical Engineer (m / w / d) Industrial Automation

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Position

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer (m / w / d), you will be responsible for designing mechanical assemblies for our key clients. You will support prototype construction and assist with troubleshooting. This role requires regular travel (~60%) to our clients and to BÄR Automation GmbH in Gemmingen near Heilbronn. We are also open to candidates located near Gemmingen or Stuttgart who are willing to travel regularly to clients and our Munich headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop mechanical systems for industrial automation projects.
  • Focus on developing efficient, reliable, and robust mechanical components that integrate seamlessly into automation technology.
  • Work closely with PLC programmers and automation specialists to ensure mechanical designs meet automation requirements.
  • Evaluate components and select suitable parts for mechanical assemblies.
  • Develop mechanical components considering safety and compliance with machinery directives.
  • Create prototypes and conduct tests to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Produce detailed technical drawings, circuit diagrams, assembly instructions, and prepare CE documentation.
  • Stay updated on advances in automation technology and mechanical engineering.
  • Provide input on design improvements based on industry trends and best practices.

Candidate Profile

  • Several years of experience in automation, automotive, or mechanical engineering, ideally in robotics and AMRs within the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
  • Knowledge of automation technology, including safety concepts and CE certification.
  • Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel 60% of the time.
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English.
  • Self-motivated, thorough, and team-oriented work attitude.
  • Hands-on mentality and initiative.
