We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated MEP Design Manager for Data Centre Constructions (m/f/d) for our Data Center Business Unit in Milano, Italy. Start asap.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the MEP design development process in collaboration with design consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee the preparation and coordination of detailed MEP design packages, ensuring alignment with data centre requirements (including power density, cooling loads, redundancy, and scalability)
  • Review and validate designs for compliance with local building codes, data centre standards (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier Certifications, ASHRAE), and client specifications
  • Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize performance and cost without compromising design integrity
  • Coordinate closely with architectural, structural, and civil design teams to ensure fully integrated building systems
  • Monitor MEP design progress against project timelines and identify/mitigate risks or delays
  • Manage design change control, RFIs, and ensure design intent is maintained through construction
  • Provide technical leadership during construction, including responding to design queries, reviewing submittals/shop drawings and supporting commissioning activities
  • Ensure sustainability and energy efficiency targets are met, working with relevant certification schemes (LEED, BREEAM, etc.)
  • Interface with client representatives, attend project meetings, and prepare status reports

Show your expertises

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Master’s preferred
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards (e.g., CEng, PE)
  • Ideally at least 8–10 years of experience in MEP design, with multiple years in data centre projects
  • Strong understanding of critical infrastructure systems including power distribution, backup systems, HVAC, and fire protection
  • Experience with BIM, Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD
  • Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Familiarity with international data centre standards (TIA-942, Uptime Institute, etc.)
