Your Mission :
The Global Trade team within Hitachi Energy is responsible for ensuring trade compliance and optimizing trade-related business operations. The broad scope of work covers export controls, sanctions, customs compliance, supply chain compliance, and supply chain optimization.
Your Responsibilities :
The Regional Head of Trade Management Europe is responsible for leading, managing, and implementing the Hitachi Energy Global Trade Program (GTP) in Europe. They act as a global advisor and point of contact on trade-related matters for Grid Integration, one of Hitachi Energy’s four Business Units (BUs). The role reports to the global Head of Trade Compliance & Security and is part of the Global Trade Leadership Team. Key tasks include:
- Driving the implementation of the GTP and its governance framework in Europe;
- Recruiting, appointing, managing, training, developing, and supporting the 11 Country Trade Compliance Officers (CTCOs) in Europe;
- Ensuring local business units in Europe appoint local BU Trade Compliance Officers/Representatives and supporting them in trade-related tasks;
- Advising the Head of Trade Compliance & Security, the Global Trade team, European CTCOs, BUs, and other stakeholders on European trade issues;
- Leading the Global Trade Sanctions Steering Group, a specialist advisory group within the Global Trade team;
- Mapping and improving trade policies and procedures;
- Training stakeholders on trade matters;
- Identifying and capturing duty savings opportunities in Europe;
- Supporting the implementation, use, and continuous improvement of global trade-related tools (e.g., SAP GTS) and automation;
- Overseeing and controlling monthly KPI reporting, issue reporting, annual risk assessments, and other trade-related reports, along with implementing corrective and risk mitigation measures;
- Supporting internal and external trade audits;

Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate or postgraduate degree in trade, law, economics, international relations, or other trade-related fields.
- Preferred: Swiss or EU legal qualification or background.
- 10+ years’ experience in export controls, sanctions, customs compliance, supply chain compliance, and optimization in an in-house role.
- Specialist knowledge of Swiss and EU trade regulations.
- Specialist knowledge of EU and other sanctions.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; additional European languages, especially German or French, are a plus.
- Currently based in Italy or the EU.
