Our focus on the German market and the development of our capability in Germany has been and continues to be one of the top business priorities. Germany is focused on the medical imaging, manufacturer and developer of the medical X-Ray generator. In order to continue to do so, Spellman is seeking an energetic and motivated Software Engineer to provide technical expertise and add capability for upcoming projects to our highly skilled engineering team in Bochum.

For this role, our expectations are to focus on both the firm- and software development, as well as technical documentation. The goal is to add experienced resource to the existing team and be a motivated and engaged worker on important projects and customizations. In addition to that, it is important to be a team worker and part of V&V processes with theoretical and physical workload.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Designs, modifies and evaluates firm- and software for high voltage x-ray generators
  2. Troubleshooting and bug-fixing of existing firm- / software
  3. Software solutions for new market requirements
  4. Performing specific tests on X-Ray generator and equipment
  5. Prepares and maintains technical documentation for medical device regulatory requirements
  6. Create documentation for software release to production (In English and German).
  7. Supports manufacturing department on newly released software
  8. Perform training on software changes and improvements
  9. Interface with customers to understand their requirements/ problems and use this understanding and your expertise to create system architectures and solutions
  10. Communicate with and support analogue engineers, project leaders, project managers, manufacturing, and test groups as well direct interfacing with customers
  11. Interpret / Document / update specifications based on coordinated development with customers
  12. Create programming and testing procedures to be used both internally and by the customer community
  13. Perform change support and version control of firmware and software
  14. Perform design verification testing and documentation
  15. Support the Research and Development (R&D) of new products and technologies

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or higher education (concentration in software design, a plus is electronics)
  2. German language is a must, good English knowledge in speaking and writing
  3. Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills
  4. Hands-on experience and knowledge in C and C++
  5. Hands-on experience and knowledge in Visual C++ and Visual Studio
  6. Understanding of basic Microsoft Windows user interface design
  7. Basic understanding of electronic circuits
  8. Familiarity with schematics
  9. Experience with microcontroller languages
  10. Experience with medical device directive is a plus
  11. Experience with medical devices is a plus
  12. Must be independent and self-motivated, demonstrate strong analytical skills and creative thinking
  13. Ability to collaborate in a team environment
