Job Description

Responsible for leading and managing the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) aspects in the Business line for HVDC Projects located in Germany, with a focus on construction and commissioning activities.

Supports Projects organization across different execution scopes, such as Turnkey projects, consortium partner EPCs, etc., from Civil Work to end commissioning for Onshore and offshore activities within the GRID business.

  • Main Point of Contact in the Country, reporting to the Regional EHS Leader for Central Europe.
  • Understand regulatory changes and trends, forecast business impacts.
  • Drive implementation of GE and regulatory EHS expectations within regional activities, including at customer sites and workshops.
  • Support the Regional EHS Leader in EHS matters.
  • Hire and train EHS teams for customer site projects across multiple countries, leading multicultural organizations.
  • Act as primary contact for Operational & Construction teams for managed projects.
  • Develop strong working relationships with operational teams to drive EHS performance and culture.
  • Establish EHS operating routines at project sites, including accident calls, reviews, KPIs, audits, inspections, and meetings.
  • Collaborate with Business Line EHS team to implement initiatives and regional/global actions.
  • Support regional data consolidation and coordinate EHS training and incident investigations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate EHS reporting and compliance with GE and legal standards.
  • Conduct regular audits on projects and support other regions as needed.

Requirements

Degree in engineering, environmental science, safety management, or related fields, with relevant certifications (NEBOSH, RAB 30, GWO, etc.). Graduate degree preferred. EHS program development and leadership experience (>7 years), particularly in power, offshore/onshore sectors. Strong knowledge of German and European EHS regulations, environmental permits, and management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Fluency in German and English, excellent communication skills, and ability to manage remote teams and travel within Germany.

Additional requirements include the ability to influence leadership, read technical reports, and work effectively across multicultural teams.
