Financial Risk Analyst / Surety Underwriter

Location: Cologne/Wiesbaden, Germany (hybrid, f/m/x, 100%)

About the role

As a Financial Risk Analyst / Surety Underwriter at Credendo GSR, you will strengthen our Surety Team in Germany. Focus areas of a surety underwriter include risk underwriting & client management, product & risk portfolio management, and compliance & controlling activities.

What you will do

  1. Manage and develop relations with brokers to detect business opportunities and manage clients’ expectations.
  2. Be responsible for underwriting, contracts and bonds management, and risk monitoring processes.
  3. Negotiate with clients, brokers, and other parties to derive appropriate solutions.
  4. Issue bonds in line with underwriting guidelines for Surety and existing agreements.
  5. Provide technical input for the development of new or revised products.
  6. Participate in the decision-making process as an autonomous decision-maker or as a provider of material.
  7. Ensure necessary steps are taken to execute decisions.
  8. Proactively follow up on requests to control and mitigate risk during the insurance cycle.
  9. Use group information on macro- and microeconomic situations to assess debtor risk profiles.
  10. Identify and monitor economic and legal trends that influence financial risk.

What we expect from you

  1. University degree (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business Science).
  2. 2+ years proven working experience as a Surety Underwriter or Credit Analyst.
  3. Good command of IT tools.
  4. Fluent in English and German.
  5. Strong credit analysis skills and ability to write risk assessments.
  6. Very good analytical skills.
  7. Ability to interpret and integrate diverse information.
  8. Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  9. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  10. Good judgement, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  11. Advanced computer skills on MS Office.
