Job Description:

Are you passionate about privacy compliance and enabling business innovation while protecting personal (consumer) data? We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager – Privacy Counsel to join our Consumer Privacy Team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders shaping all areas affecting consumers including e-commerce, personalisation of consumer experience, AI-projects at adidas, designing user journey, personalized customer experience, customer analytics and marketing.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on data protection and data regulation matters, managing priorities, and empowering stakeholders to use data responsibly while mitigating risks. This is an independent contributor role, not immediate line management responsibility.

Key responsibilities:

  • Privacy Strategy: Manage and align priorities with assigned stakeholders based on privacy relevance, risk, and business needs.
  • Expert Advice: Deliver tailored, fit-for-purpose privacy advice to ensure compliance and enable key stakeholders to achieve their goals.
  • Innovative Solutions: Enable effective use of data and new technologies to achieve adidas' purpose while respecting individuals' privacy and protecting the company from risks.
  • Scalable compliance: Look for ways to provide practical and scalable advice in a global setting.
  • Risk assessment and documentation: Work together with stakeholders to ensure appropriate legal documentation is in place (like Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments). Produce, verify, and negotiate necessary deliverables with internal or external stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and draft privacy related contracts.
  • Support stakeholders in case of data breaches and consumer complaints.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance – mainly GDPR, knowledge of additional global data privacy regulations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AI regulation, data regulation and cybersecurity regulations in the EU is a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience advising on and implementing privacy regulation in a global or EU-wide company or an international law firm. Experience in the technology sector or e-commerce preferrable.
  • Full law qualification (master degree in law or equivalent & eligible for bar admission) is expected. German qualified lawyer preferred.
  • Strong and proven record in advising on implementing privacy requirements in complex business and technology settings.
  • Excellent team player, able to build productive working relationships within the team and across the organization.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues in a clear, actionable manner.
  • Ability to take action and provide direction in complex environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Experience in conducting privacy impact assessments and managing privacy risks.
  • Proactive and independent work style with a commitment to quality and documentation.
