Job Description Summary
For Grid Solutions, Offshore HVDC represents a key differentiating technology and a central focus for the business, particularly in Europe where Transmission System Operators have very ambitious renewable energy targets. In that context, and for Germany, Grid Solutions is partnering with key customers planning to invest in deploying new HVDC converter stations to bring offshore wind energy into Germany and the Netherlands.
We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee large packages within a portfolio of several mega HVDC projects in Germany. The Project Manager will be responsible for project delivery, P&L accountability, and customer satisfaction through effective management of activities and resources. Leadership in risk & opportunity management and adherence to high standards in quality, health, safety, and environment are essential.

Major Responsibilities in detail:
- Focus initially on scope & change management for the HVDC portfolio, leading scope & variation processes, including identification, estimation, validation, negotiation, and feedback to tendering teams.
- Deliver on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), On-Time Delivery (OTD), and financial objectives (sales, margin, billing, cash).
- Ensure Project Review governance aligns with GE Grid Solutions Operating rhythm, focusing on risk management and mitigation.
- Lead and coach a multicultural, cross-functional project team comprising engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls.
- Implement project execution strategies based on contractual agreements to meet performance goals.
- Manage communication with customers and internal teams, including coordination with consortium partners.
- Establish and secure necessary resources for project execution, supporting the organization of the project team.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), taking immediate actions to ensure project goals are met.
- Establish and monitor quality, environmental, and safety plans, ensuring compliance and cost efficiency.
- Support claim management strategies and lead claim resolution actions.
- Define and update risk and opportunity management plans, evaluating and acting on project risks.
- Develop and oversee the HVDC project schedule, managing project float to ensure timely completion.
- Exercise financial controls, including regular reporting and forecasting of project metrics.
- Coordinate technical support, engineering, manufacturing, supply, and onsite construction resources.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, preferably technical.
- Minimum of 5 years experience managing large and complex projects.
